This clock tower has an interesting history in Buenos Aires. It sits opposite the Malvinas War Memorial, commemorating the Falklands War against the British in the 1980s. Before the war, it was known as the Tower of the English. But, when war broke out, its name was changed to Torre Monumental, or Monument Tower, despite the fact that it was a gift from the local English community to the city in 1910 celebrating Argentina’s independence from Spain. But, politics is a full contact sport as you’ll discover while traveling in Argentina.  I like this shot because it captures the flag that actually flies on the grounds of the Malvinas War Memorial. Enjoy this week’s Suh-Weet shot from Buenos Aires.
